Why doesn't the media report actual news?

Q. Why doesn't the media report anything other than the latest gag inducing minutia regarding our Presidential candidates? Puzzled in AZ

A. It's simple actually, Puzzled. It's obvious that there just is nothing worth reporting or they gladly would have reported it I'm just certain. Surely there is a cat trapped in a tree somewhere - if not, can we find one to stick up there at least until theprimaries and conventions are over?
