Why do People Stress about Making a Turkey?

Q.  Why do people freak out about making Thanksgiving dinner - I mean it's the same thing every year - year in and year out, right?  Shaking his head in Nebraska

A.   First, Shaking in Nebraska, lock the doors because there will be some very angry cooks heading your way. The decisions are overwhelming -  do you buy organic, free-range, or well non-free range? Do you go for the self-basting or the turkeys you squirt stuff onto all day long - and that sir is just one item on the menu and we haven't even talked about cooking it yet. Your neighbor insists you fry the thing - your best friend says brine - and in your heart - you know that all of them simply buy the kind with the plastic thing that pops out when the thing is edible.

Add to that Mr. Shaking,  to the knock down drag outs over what side dishes get served - which great grandmother's recipes for the mooshy yam bake will make it to the place of honor - and you have the makings of one large migraine.

So why do people freak out about making a simple dinner - the one they make year after year after year? Offer to make the dinner next year Shaking - I double dog dare ya.
